Colorful Crochet Zip Stitch Scarf

We are going to learn How to Crochet Colorful Zip Stitch Scarf. This 6 ft long scarf utilizes single crochet for the color blocks and the zip stitch for detail that looks nice front and back. Each zip stitch section is 5 stitches, which makes it easy to alter the width. Select at least two colors to alternate; textured yarn is not recommended for this pattern.

There are so many methods for joining crochet squares.  This one is my favourite, though, both for how it looks and for how flat the resulting seams are. The zipper method does take a bit longer than the other methods out there, but give it a try and see how you like the finished result!  I am calling it the “zipper” method.

Yarn: Bulky #5 – Lion Brand Color Made Easy in Basalt, Huckleberry, Alabaster, Avocado, and Coal
Hook: L (8.0 mm)

The size of yarn and gauge are not important. Whatever yarn you select, use a crochet hook at least 1 size larger than recommended on the skein to give you a pliable, rather than stiff, scarf.

Measurements: 9 x 74 inches

Single Crochet

Single crochet is one of the easiest stitches to master. Once you’ve learned the single crochet stitch, there are infinite possible ways to use it. You can work it in rows, in rounds or spirals, as edging, in different parts of the stitch for different effects, and combined with other stitches in countless variations.

Crochet Zipper Join

Zip method is probably my favorite because it helps to make the joining section completely flat. It’s a little bit more complicated than joining with single crochet, but it’s for sure worth learn it. This is actually a crochet method that does not leave a lot of bulk on the back side of your fabric.
